1. How did you become interested in photography?
When I had taken photography courses at the end of my high school career; that was probably what sparked my true love for photography. I learned so much about the art of photography that I really wanted continue with to learn more and try to become good at it. I was so motivated to be a photographer that I saved up whatever money I had at the time to upgrade from a point-and-spot camera to a DSLR. I was probably the best decision I made!
2. What sort of stuff did you shoot when you were starting out?
Flowers, I started off with taking photos of flowers. I’m sure every photographer started off with flowers in the beginning, which I think is funny! Although during my photography courses in high school I loved doing portrait photography, so needless to say after a while I graduated from taking photos of flowers to taking photos of people. I find people are far more interesting for sure, especially those in costume.
3. What’s your favourite type of shoot and why?
That’s an easy question to answer. Any shoot that’s done outdoors is my favourite kind of shoot, indoor shooting can be a bit of a pain. I find with indoor shoots, you really have to watch your lighting since some locations might be too dark. I also find some indoor locations to be too closed in, as a photographer that uses a portrait lens I find this to be a problem. I find it rare to find an indoor location with room to move and the right lighting. Being outside for a shoot however, you have more room to move around and I just find outdoor lighting so much better for photos. This is just my personal preference of course! I feel I shoot better outside than inside!
4. Is there a dream shoot you’d like to do?
I’ve never really thought about it before, but maybe it should be something I need to think about and something I can strive for!
5. Besides Photography, what else do you like to do in your spare time?
Besides collecting anime figurines, playing Pokemon X, hanging with friends and being a tea addict…not too much! Well, that’s a lie. I do many things on my spare time, including the things I listed off. It’s just a bit of a long list, so I thought I’d only list off what I do very often!
6. What shoots do you have planned for the future?
I have lots of shoots planned! Always at an upcoming convention! I couldn’t list off specifically what the shoots are since I have so many planned before every convention I attend but needless to say! Expect a lot more photos of amazing cosplays coming your way!
7. Any tips for anyone who wants to get into photography?
The best advice I can give to anyone wanting to go into photography, don’t be afraid being a newbie. We’ve all been there, we all started from somewhere. You will get better as along as you continue to learn and want to learn. Never be afraid of criticism. Criticism is a good way to learn on what you need to improve on as a photographer. Even if it means asking another photographer to critique your work, they may end up teaching you a thing or two. Oh! I can’t forget! Always have a good attitude when working with others! Always be positive, always be friendly! Have fun! It’ll leave a good impression on you!
